CPAP Manufacturer Agrees to $479 Million Settlement Over Respiratory Device Flaws
Philips Respironics has consented to a $479 million settlement for economic damages related to its breathing machines, which were recalled for emitting harmful gases and foam particles, as announced by plaintiffs' lawyers. This settlement, pending court approval, is part of a larger class-action lawsuit and will compensate users and vendors, allowing for an uncapped number of claims.
A Batch of New Recalls From Philips
According to the FDA, Philips Respironics has initiated a recall of its V60 and V60 Plus Ventilators due to Power Management Printed Circuit Board Assemblies that fail to meet required standards. This recall affects a total of nine ventilators, with eight located in the U.S. and one in the Philippines, all sourced from an external supplier. As a result of this announcement, Philips' stock has declined by 4% in early trading.
